PK Rock and Pop
Learning to be in a rock band and performing are the goals of the Rock and Pop course however; recording, concerts and touring are also major perks of the Paul Kane Rock and Pop Program! Students start their semester by forming bands based on their musical interests, whether it is heavy metal, acoustic or anything in between. Students also acquire “industry jobs” in class, for the website. These roles include photography, videography, course assistant, webmaster and other multiple industry jobs! Throughout the semester, students grow as musicians within their bands and perform sets up to 30 minutes. By the end of the semester, they are given the opportunity to record in the studio and perform at larger events both within and outside the school. Some of the events in the past have included Esso Cup, PkPlugged, SEISMIC and more. Two of the major event of the year are the Rock and Pop tour (previous destinations were Seattle and Vancouver, and there is an upcoming tour to Toronto), and the Axe Music sponsored PK Plugged. The objective of the course is to learn how to be in a rock band, learn the music industry and above all, to have fun.
Course Management
As this course focuses on band performances and the industry, Mr. Price actually manages the course instead of ‘teaching’ music. He treats us like professional bands and helps us with our bookings (in-class performances and community events), and then gives us feedback with much guidance as needed for us to be successful.
Daryl Price is the manager for the Rock and Pop program. As an experienced teacher and musician, he started this course 9 years ago with the hopes that it would be another way for students to become involved in music. He understands how to place his students in a position to succeed. With a focus on learning catered to individual needs and skill sets, a learning experience under Mr. Price can help students of all experience levels to develop their musical abilities in an exciting and safe environment.
Mr. Price provides his students with an expansive knowledge base in areas of music and the industry, promotion, recording, band and leadership building, stage setup and performance.

Sugar Plum Fairy by P.Tchaikovsky – Glass Harp
This video was picked by a student in order to show virtuosity on any instrument. Also, it shows solid performances. Can you try to find both good and bad things with video?
